ABOUT US

While trying to donate furniture to a family displaced by fire, it became apparent that it was very difficult to connect resources to recipients. A second occurrence reinforced this observation when a foster child was being reunited with her mother. They secured housing, but had no furniture or household goods and no obvious way to get them.

A group of local citizens saw an opportunity to match resources with need by sharing donated quality furniture and household goods with qualified families/individuals transitioning into homes from homelessness, or other difficult life situations.

We are an all-volunteer organization working closely with various social service agencies that screen applicants. The IRS has designated us as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Two things motivated me to get involved in this charity. I made a commitment to myself that when I retired I would contribute to my community in a more personal way. I soon realized there was a need in the Conejo Valley that was not being addressed. When I put those concepts together, the idea for the Furniture Foundation was born.

Peggy Just

I come from a background of charitable giving. My parents set an example of giving to and doing for others. They led by example and I was raised with that concept. I wanted to do something to give back when I retired. This organization provides the means to do that.

I have monetarily supported various charities including cancer, veterans, children's hospitals, and a rescue mission. Being involved in this charity allowed me to participate in a project from its inception to its actualization. It's rewarding to address an unmet need in our local area.

Maurice Clement

I was offered an internship in this charity which allowed me to help out in the community while gaining business experience. I was intrigued by the opportunity to bring something to the Conejo Valley that didn't already exist. I really like being able to help others. I plan to continue volunteering in any capacity needed.
